Red Mountain had big performances across the sprints, relays, and field events to secure the boys Open State Championship with 58 points. Basha and Hamilton stayed close throughout the night, but Red Mountain’s depth across multiple events helped separate them by the end of the meet.

North Canyon survives stacked girls team battle

The girls team race came down to the final events as North Canyon finished with 56 points to win the Open State Championship. Canyon View pushed them all night long while Queen Creek, Hamilton, and Chandler all stayed within striking distance in one of the closest finishes of the season.

Imani Galera-Young delivers the MVP performance of the night

Imani Galera-Young put together one of the best performances of the entire meet. The Chandler senior won the 100 hurdles in 13.71 before returning later in the night to break the state record in the 300 hurdles with a 40.65, one of the fastest times in the country this season. Her two first place finishes gave Chandler crucial points in the girls team race and cemented one of the top individual performances of the championship.

Aliyah Morrow wins loaded 400 meter final

Hamilton junior Aliyah Morrow battled through one of the deepest races of the night to win the girls 400 meter dash in 53.52, barely holding off Mesquite freshman Aulani Gleason at the line, who set the Arizona all time Freshman record in the 400 meter.

ALA Queen Creek flies to 4x100 title

ALA Queen Creek delivered one of the fastest relay performances in Arizona this year, running 40.91 to win the boys 4x100 relay ahead of Chandler and Highland in a stacked sprint final.

Nicole Ripperdan nearly breaks the meet record

Queen Creek senior Nicole Ripperdan took control late in the girls 800 meter run and crossed the line in 2:06.05, just missing the meet record in one of the top distance performances of the season.

Kyana Williams completes the three peat

Hamilton senior Kyana Williams closed out her high school career in style, clearing 5 feet 9 inches to win her third straight Open State Championship in the girls high jump. Her consistency over the last three seasons has made her one of the most dominant field athletes in Arizona.

Ryder Hall dominates the field events

Snowflake’s Ryder Hall put together one of the most impressive all around performances of the meet, winning both the boys high jump and triple jump while adding major points toward Snowflake’s top ten team finish. Hall’s versatility stood out all night as he delivered in multiple events on the biggest stage.

Dameon Brender leads Red Mountain to the title

Red Mountain junior Dameon Brender stepped up in the biggest moments for the eventual boys team champions. He won the boys 100 meter dash in 10.74 and followed it up with a runner up finish in the 200, helping Red Mountain secure enough points to pull away in the final standings.

Hamilton closes strong in the 4x400

Hamilton ended the night with a statement win in the boys 4x400 relay, running 3:15.21 to hold off Marana and cap off a strong overall performance at the Open State Championship.
