In a gritty Friday night matchup at Tolleson Union High, the Millennium Tigers pulled away late to defeat Tolleson 38–21, weathering both a determined Wolverines squad and a downpour that ended the game with just over six minutes remaining. Behind another sharp performance from senior quarterback Rayden Reibel and a dominant night on the ground from junior Dmari Bryant, Millennium continued its midseason surge in Week 7.
Millennium set the tone early with an explosive first quarter, jumping ahead 10–7 thanks to Reibel’s efficiency and Bryant’s balance in the run game. Reibel connected for chunk plays downfield while the Tiger defense capitalized on Tolleson’s secondary miscues, turning several busted coverages into big gains. At the half, Millennium led 24–14, though a missed field goal before the break kept Tolleson within striking distance. The Wolverines stayed in it behind steady drives from quarterback Youngmin Lee and a consistent backfield led by Jimmy Guzman, but couldn’t quite match Millennium’s vertical tempo.
Tolleson found momentum late in the third quarter when Lee hit Minnesota commit Rico Blassingame for a highlight-reel touchdown, cutting the lead to 24–21 heading into the fourth. But Millennium answered swiftly — Bryant’s third rushing touchdown and a precise Reibel strike to Kauaun Rouzan-Franklin put the Tigers back in full control before the weather turned chaotic. As heavy rain flooded the field, officials called the game early, sealing Millennium’s 38–21 victory.
Reibel finished with 259 passing yards and two touchdowns, while Bryant exploded for 204 yards and three scores on the ground. Rouzan-Franklin added 90 receiving yards and two touchdowns, giving Millennium a well rounded offensive showcase that tallied over 490 total yards. Defensively, Angelo Ortiz and Elijah Stevens led the charge with key tackles and a sack apiece, keeping Tolleson’s offense under pressure throughout.
With the win, Millennium improves to 6-1, staying firmly in the 5A playoff picture as they prepare for a tough late-season stretch. Tolleson, now 6-1, will look to bounce back and clean up coverage breakdowns as region play continues.
